Manganese is required for normal reproduction, bone structure and
CNS function. Its highest concentration is found in bone, liver,
kidney, pancreas, and pituitary gland. Its deficiency is associated
with poor reproductive system, reduced production and skeletal
abnormality in calf.
Treatment:
4 g MnSO4 in large animals orally, 1 g to calves, 2 g to
heifer. MnO is used but sulphate is better due to its availability.
